Very steamy romance with political drama and danger

Latin lover plus cowboy equals super steamy romance in this spirited story of opposites attracting. I have read a lot of cowboy romances but this is the first one I've gotten that takes you to the grassy plains and seductive men of the Patagonian pampas. Iowa farm girl Laura's double major in anthropology and history earns her plenty of condescension and rudeness but not much in the way of a paycheck. When friend Heidi suggests she signs up for an English teaching program and get out of town for a while, it sounds like a fun way to earn a dollar. Before she knows it she's on a plane and headed to Buenos Aires. Her trip leads to more than just fun and a job however, when she falls for an outspoken gaucho with a target on his back.

What I really like about this is how much I connected with Laura. The scene in the taxi her first day made me cringe with sympathy. Been there! I also liked how Starkey brought in the realities of Argentinian life, including the protests and economic conditions and current tensions with the US. This is a very steamy romance between a woman from a wealthy, faraway country and a common rancher from South America, with plenty of political drama and danger to keep things exciting.

I've read many cowboy romance books before, but I think this book is one of the best so far. It was unpredictable and full of surprises! The story was about Laura, who recently graduated from college and relocated to Argentina. And there, she met Gaucho Guillermo. Full of passion and very hot, thumbs up!

Steamy, seductive, well written!

Wow...what a juicy cowboy romance book...Laura meets a cowboy named Guillermo after finishing graduate school and they instantly connect. Cassie does a great job describing what is going on in this book and uses material that everyone can relate to in our everyday lives. Laura working in Argentina could have easily been homesick but she made the best of it buy meeting someone and fell in love...simply stating "I don't like you, I love you!"

I really enjoyed the ending of the book...must read for all romance lovers!

Not my cuppa "mean" tea

There is a lot wrong in this novel at least for me. I did read the whole novel however it was hard to finish. First of all it is kinda creepy to be writing your dead mother about your dating life even if it is some form of therapy. Next some of the dating scenarios seem stuck in the 90s with current technology added in to make it more hip I guess. I enjoyed it in Bridget Jones because it was relevant at that time; now not so much. I find the humour in the dates more on Jamie's blog than in Laura's journal, sometimes I cannot even tell the difference between Jamie's voice and Laura's. Spalding does not write the female voice well, there is no humour only whining, pathetic complaints. I like humour but "mean" humour is just something hard to enjoy. One thing I can possibly say is that Jamie and Laura do deserve each other, they can happily live in their self absorbed worlds.

Only if you like "mean humor"

I read a lot of reviews of this book that said it was hilarious. The only negative reviews seemed to be about all the sex and bad language, which I don't care about at all, so I borrowed it from the Kindle library. I returned it after two chapters and asked for my borrowing privilege returned. It was just awful. I don't know why it's funny to make fun of someone's looks. I get making fun of someone being an ass, but the shape of their butt or the fact that they have a lazy eye? That is what 10 years olds do--wait--mean 10 year olds. So save your money or your borrowing privilege unless you enjoy mean humor.

Hilarious!

Sometimes you find a book that ticks every box for you. Love...From Both Sides was that book for me. It is well written, very funny, and entertaining. It had me giggling, chuckling, snorting, and laughing myself silly with tears in my eyes more than once. More importantly, it was very believable (I guess that's what real-life tales means), and I could easily relate to the heroine. Another thing that I liked was that the book was told from both male and female points of view, and I found it very refreshing. I definitely recommend Love...From Both Sides and its sequel Love...And Sleepless Nights.

looked like it had been handled roughly and there were a ...

The book, even though a rental, looked like it had been handled roughly and there were a couple of loose pages in the middle, they hadn't come off completely, but I am not sure if they will still be in tact by the end of the semester from the way they look. . I took pictures when I first used it 4 days after I received it which was the first time I had used it. It looks like the book had been opened and the front half bent backward under the back half making it seem as if the book is almost in 2 pieces. but attached with glue at the spine.

About the Author
SAADAT HASAN MANTO (1912-55) is one of the finest Urdu short story writers. Provocative, outrageous, scandalous, sometimes even blasphemous, Manto was the original enfant terrible of Urdu literature. Cocking a snook at society, literary norms and most notions of propriety, Manto touched the hearts of many with his convincing and utterly original portrayal of human fallibility. RAKHSHANDA JALIL has edited two collections of short stories: an anthology called Urdu Stories and a selection by Pakistani women called Neither Night Nor Day. She has published five works of translations: Premchand's short stories entitled The Temple and the Mosque; a collection of satirical writing in Hindi by Asghar Wajahat entitled Lies: Half Told; thirty-two satirical cameos by Saadat Hasan Manto entitled Black Borders; nazms by Urdu poet Shahryar called Through the Closed Doorway; short stories by Intizar Husain entitled Circle and Other Stories; and a collection of Premchand's short stories for children called A Winter's Tale and Other Stories. Her translations have appeared in a number of journals and magazines, she has also coauthored, with Mushirul Hasan, Partners in Freedom: Jamia Millia Islamia and written Invisible City, a collection of essays on the little-known monuments of Delhi. She contributes regularly on issues of faith and community to major English newspapers and journals; co-edits Third Frame, a journal devoted to literature, culture and society; and, works as Media & Cultural Coordinator at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Earlier, she has taught English at the universities of Delhi and Aligarh.
